Winter Alliance.

The final winter alliance of the year took place in Lough Owel on Sunday. On a bitter day 15 brave teams played on the Mullingar course. Winners of the 36 Gross prize was the Lough Owel team of Dessie Baker, Gerry Kennan and Stephen Bray with an outstanding score of 28 under par. The 36 Net prize was won by another Lough Owel team, Darren Creevy, Sean Dinnegan and Dean Dinnegan with a score of 70 2/3. The spot prize went to Mary Browne Custume. It has to be said the course was in wonderful condition and is a credit to David Corcoran and all the members of the club, keep up the good work. Westmeath County Board would like to thank everyone who supported the alliances over the winter and all the clubs for holding the events.


Ladies Day.

The 2nd Ladies day was held in Collinstown on Saturday. After the success of the first day the ladies were looking forward to meeting up again and credit has to go to county team manger Martin Carter for organising and running the events. Winners on the day were, 1st 36 gross Liz Bloem (Collinstown), 2nd 36 gross Anne Kelly (Collinstown) and 18net 18gross Noeleen Coffey (Kilbeggan). Well done to all the winners.


Condolence.

The Westmeath County Board would like to extend their condolence to the McCourt and Coyne families on the recent death of James McCourt Mullingar. James was brother-in-law to our secretary Gerry Coyne and brother of his wife Jenny. May he rest in peace.


Westmeath Classic.

The Jack McCormack Memorial Westmeath Classic takes place on Sunday the 24th March in Kilbeggan. Play is over 36 holes. Starting at 8.30am and last card 1.30pm. Entry €10. Prizes: Overall 36 Gross, 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Gents Inter 36 Gross. Gents Junior 36 Gross. Ladies 0-10 36 Gross & Ladies 11-18 36 Gross. All prizes sponsored by the McCormack family.
