Winter Alliance/Ladies Day

Winter Alliance.

The 3rd winter alliance of the year took place on the beautiful Kilbeggan course last Sunday. 23 teams played on what was a breezy day that may have made the scoring a bit more difficult. Claiming the gross prize on the day was the team of John Browne (Collinstown), Paddy Browne (Collinstown) and Niall Cuffe (Kilbeggan) with a fantastic gross score of 29 under par 79. This score included a great run of 20 birdies in a row. Winning the 3rd winter alliance net prize was the Collinstown team of Stuart Tarleton, Michael Scally and Mark Foran. The lads produced two fine rounds of 41 gross to finish on a net total of 60 2/3. Spot prizes were won by Pat Stephens and Dominic Prendergast both Custume. The 4th winter Alliance is due to take place in Rochfortbridge on Sunday 3rd March. We would like to thank the Kilbeggan club on hosting the alliance this weekend and having the course in immaculate condition and the refreshments afterwards. Also Westmeath county board would like to thank all the players who continue to support the alliances and look forward to seeing all again in two weeks time.

Ladies Day.

The Westmeath County team manager Martin Carter has proposed to hold a Ladies only day on Saturday 2nd March 2013 in Kilbeggan at 10.30am. Martin will also speak with the ladies present on the day to outline his plans for the ladies trails for the forthcoming year. Unfortunately in 2012 no Westmeath ladies team was entered in the Leinster/National inter county competitions and it would be a shame to see this repeated again this year. Prizes on the day will be sponsored by the county board and refreshments will be available. Prizes on the day will be 1st 36 gross, 2nd 18net 18 gross, 3rd 18net 18 gross and 4th 18net 18 gross.
