Winter Alliance
Winter Alliance. It is that time of year again when the clubs get dusted
off and we all hit the greens again. 25 teams turned up to play in the first
winter alliance of the year at Collinstown and everyone was eager to get off to
a winning start for 2013. There was a great buzz around the course as pitch and
putt friends met up for the New Year and scoring was of the highest standard as
ever. Gross winners on the day were the team of Rene Bloem (Collinstown), Niall
Corcoran (Lough Owel) and Sean Dinnegan (Lough Owel). After a very impressive
40 in their first round they added an outstanding round of 17 under par 37 in
the second, which included an ace from Sean on the second for a total score of
77gross. The Net winners were the Collinstown team of Stuart Tarleton, M Scally
and Clive Byrne. After a fantastic pitch landed on the 36th green
the lads knew they were going well and had a chance of victory and took this
with an excellent score of 65net. Spot Prizes on the day were won by Stephen
Bray Lough Owel and Aaron Archbold Lough Owel. Westmeath County Board would
like the Collinstown club for having the course as always in great condition on
the day and all the players who travelled to play and support the alliance,
looking for to seeing another strong field in two weeks time at Lough Owel. Alliance Fixtures. 20th January Lough Owel. 3rd February Custume. 17th February Kilbeggan. 3rd March Rochfortbridge.
