MUNSTER MIXED FOURSOMES COMPETITION @ FERMOY

TODAY’S Provincial Mixed Foursomes titles went to Dublin and Kerry with Glenville duo Stella Sheridan and Frank Connolly victorious in the Leinster at Old County while Tralee pair Lisa O’Connor and Tony Blake were the winners of the Munster down in Fermoy.

Stella and Frank’s total of 6up saw them win out thanks to a Second Round of 4up as they beat Joan Redmond and Stephen Power from the host club on Countback after they posted two consecutive 3up rounds. The Erry siblings of Tracey and Joe McGrath Jnr were the winners of the Gross prize on 2up while the First 18 prize in Leinster went to St Bridget’s duo Ann and Christy Sweeney on 6up. The Second 18 prize meanwhile was won by another Glenville pairing in the form of Mary C Hughes and Leo O’Reilly as their 3up total was better on the back nine from Seapoint pairing Lily Fallon and Thomas Lynch.

At the Munster’s meanwhile Lisa O’Connor and Tony Blake shot a second round of 9up to win the title by two with a total of 15up after being third overall after the First Round with 6up. Fermoy duo Sarah Byrne and James Devonshire were the runners-up on their home course with 13up while the Gross prize went to another duo from the host club, Nicole Burke and Daniel Keohane, with 4up. Margaret and Dean Courtney from Riverdale’s opening total of 7up was good enough to claim the First 18 prize while the Second 18 prize was won by Ballinlough’s Karen and John Aherne with a total of 5up.
