Entry Forms Available for Upcoming Competition
With schools recommencing this week, it’s time to start organising teams for our annual Pitch and Putt Secondary Schools Competitions which are sponsored this year by Nevada Bobs. The Munster and Leinster finals will take place on the 10th of October in Cunnigar Pitch and Putt Club, Dungarvan and Erry Pitch and Putt Club, Clara. Yet again, all teams will consist of three players with each team having at least one PPUI member. All three scores will count in the competition which is 36 holes Strokeplay. The All-Ireland Competition will take place in Ryston Pitch and Putt Club, Newbridge on October 24th. The top 9 teams in both the Leinster and Munster Competition will once again qualify for this.
To build on last year’s competition, we’d like to ensure as large an entry as possible for this year. All clubs and schools have been sent a letter with information and an entry form, the closing dates for these entries is Thursday 18th of September.
Qualifying was required in Munster only last year as the number of competing schools was quite large. We expect a large entry in both provinces and the requirement for a qualifying round in both provinces. These one off qualifying rounds will take place between September 22nd and October 2nd. It is hoped that following consultation with the county boards, venues and dates for these qualifying rounds will be known a week in advance of the closing date and will be published on the PPUI website at that time.
Under PPUI guidelines for this competition, at any stage – Qualifying, Provincial or All-Ireland – there must be a teacher or consented parent/guardian accompanying the team. Non accordance with this rule will result in the team not being allowed to play. This will be strictly adhered to. We also ask that in the case of a non teacher mentoring the team, the school contact the PPUI to give their permission for this to be the case.
