As of January 2018, the PPUI will process all Garda Vetting applications via the Garda eVetting system. This move has been in the works for several months now with the introduction of the eVetting system. Most of all vetting applications processed by the National Vetting Bureau are now through the new eVetting system.
The process for vetting an individual remains largely the same but the wait time for PPUI Clubs to receive a report back will be reduced greatly. Paper applications were taking 6 to 10 weeks to be returned but the wait time will be reduced to 8 to 10 days with the eVetting system.
The process remains largely the same but instead of the applicant completing a Vetting form, they complete a Vetting Invitation form which is one page. They will then receive an e-mail with a link directly to the Vetting website where they will complete the Vetting application. The entire process is outlined in a separate document with the link available at the bottom of this article.
The PPUI want to remind all clubs that it is their responsibility to ensure that the appropriate people in the club are vetted. Any individual working directly with Juveniles such as a coach, juvenile officer, juvenile committee members and so on must be vetted. Anyone who works on a regular basis with children should be vetted, this is now a legal requirement. PPUI Vetting Form – Vetting Applicant

PPUI ID Verification – Club Committee
It is the responsibility of the club to verify the identity of the individual being vetted. They must see two forms of ID and sign a declaration to that effect. The following document is to be used for verification of the applicant’s ID
The PPUI 100-point check is to be used to verify the ID of the individual being vetted. There are 2 separate documents, one for vetting applicants over the age of 18 and another for vetting applicant over the age of 16 but under the age of 18.

National Vetting Bureau Act
The National Vetting Bureau Act (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016 was introduced into Irish law in 2016 and cover the area of vetting of individuals working with children or vulnerable adults.
