On Sunday 8th May Hillview Sports Club was the venue for the O’Sullivan Insurance Sponsored Paddy Power Memorial Scratch Cup for 2016. After the deluge on Saturday the Sunday Started out sunny and dry with light showers and wind. Conditions overall were dry. By the time of the last card at 2.30pm a magnificent turnout of 123 players from 10 counties had entered this famous Scratch Cup. A long day became even longer for the top 12 plus ties in attendance as they went out for the final 18 Holes to decide the Winner of the Trophy. While the outcome may have been in doubt with the top 5 or 6 players within 3 shots of each other, it quickly became very clear as to who would be victorious. Shooting a spectacular 12 under in the playoff Liam O’Donovan from Bruff made this his 3rd victory in Hillview.

For the presentation of prizes which took place in the club house afterwards, we were joined by the sponsor John O’Sullivan from O’Sullivan Insurances and by the Club President Seamus O’Doherty. Also present was the Lady Captain Nora Whelan & Gents Captain Paddy O’Hanrahan. Paddy started by thanking everyone who helped in the kiosk, tee box, score board, cards, Kitchen & Bar. The Sponsor and President congratulated all who took part and especially all the Winners. They also thanked the Captains and their committee for all their work during the day.
