National Matchplay Draws and Hotel Information

Live Draw to take place in Parteen - Saturday at 7pm

The National Matchplay Draws take place at 7 pm on Saturday evening. The venue for the occasion is the Tailrace Bar in Parteen only a short stroll form the course. The Tailrace Bar is 500 metres from Parteen Pitch and Putt club on the Limerick city side of the R464. All are welcome to sample the atmosphere ahead of what is always a crucial moment in the Matchplay Championships.

There are 29 names in the Ladies draw with the title holder, Ger Ward, and the next three highest ranked players already seeded. They are:

Geraldine Ward (Portmarnock)
Chrissie Byrne (St. Bridget’s)
Breda Lonergan (Tipperary Hills)
Margaret Hogan (Tullamore)

The remaining ladies in the draw are numbered 5 to 32. There are three byes among these names due to an insufficient entry. The first number drawn from these will play the defending champion, Ger Ward, in the opening game.

The Gents Draw is straight forward. 64 names are in the draw and once again the four seeds are already in place. They are:

Ray Murphy (St. Anne’s)
John Crangle (Loughlinsown)
Damien Fleming (Deerpark)
Frank Ryan (St. Bridget’s)

The remaining qualifiers are numbered 5-64 and the first number out will draw the holder, Ray Murphy, as per usual.

The Draws can be followed tomorrow evening on a Live Blog on the PPUI website. Here, the latest updates will be provided as well as a link to a scoreboard document that will be updated as every ball is drawn out.
