And that's it after a great two days in Fermoy. We hope that you've enjoyed our updates on proceedings over the last two days and well done to Sarah, Mary and Ger on their wins. We will have interviews with our three winners on the website tomorrow. Thanks to Fermoy for a wonderfully presented course and great hospitality over the weekend. Safe home to all! 

5.05pm 

It went to the 10th playoff hole but Geraldine Ward has won her 16th major National Singles title as she birdied the 10th hole and Tara Dillon missed her putt at birdie to extend a dramatic playoff even further. Both players were level at -3 after the first nine. Credit must go to both players on a tremendous effort in what were tension filled conditions to say the least. 

 

4.15pm  

We will have a nine hole playoff to decide the title after both Portmarnock's Ger Ward and St Bridgets' Tara Dillon after both finiished level on -18 after 54 holes. Tipp Hills' Breda Lonergan just missed on joining them finishing -17 for her 54 and third place overall. Playoff to commence very shortly! 

 

3.45pm  

All groups have passed the first nine holes of the playoff. The updated scores are as follows:

All competitors have now completed their 36 holes. The Top 10 going forward for the playoff are as follows:

Breda Lonergan has joined the group of players tied for second place on -12 following two rounds of six under par. Some selected other scores: Martha O'Brien  -5, Margaret Hogan  -4, Vera and Michelle McCarthy both -3 and Marian Byrne finished +1. Three players left now to complete their 36 holes. Hotting up both on-an-off the course! 

 

1.45pm 

Some other selected scores after 36: Eleanor Walsh -9, Tracey McGrath -5, Mary Murray and Sheelagh Elmes -2. 

 

1.30pm  

Our new leader is Geraldine Ward who has posted a 36 hole total of -14 to lead by two over the field. Defending champion Chrissie Byrne finished on four under par for her 36. 

1.20pm 

Tara Dillon has joined Maree in a share of the lead on -12 after posting a strong second 18 of nine under par.  

1.10pm

Maree O'Toole from Shandon has completed her first 36 holes and is the clubhouse leader on -12. Tara Dillon and Eleanor Walsh are both -7 after 27 holes, while Geraldine Ward is gone back to -5 with Chrissie Byrne falling back to -1 after 27 holes. 

 

12.40pm  

Maree O'Toole is the leader on the course with -11 after 27 holes, St Bridgets Tara Dillon is -7 after the same number of holes. Tipperary Hills' Breda Lonergan is -6 after 18 holes. 

 

12.15pm  

Geraldine Ward posted -6 for her First 18, Portmarnock club-mate Sheelagh Elemes shot -4 while Tipperary Hills' Breda Lonergan is also -4 after 9 holes. 

 

11.40am 

All competitors have now teed off for their First Rounds, Defending Champion Chrissie Byrne and Shandon's Maree O'Toole are the 18 hole leaders on -5. Rocklodge's Mary Murray is -4 after 18 holes with Tracey McGrath from Erry is -4 after 9 holes.

Welcome to the Live Blog for the second day here in Fermoy. Today it’s the turn of the Senior Ladies. Action is just getting underway with 40 ladies in the field. Defending champion Chrissie Byrne (St. Bridget’s) starts the defence of her title with a 10.24am tee time alongside Paula Nolan from Ballinlough. We’ll keep you updated with events every so often throughout the day on the live blog.
