A long day in Fermoy has come to an end with victory for Ryston's Mary Donnelly in the Intermediate Championship thanks to a two under par final round for a tournament total of 160, just one better than 36 hole leader Una Brosnan from Claycastle who shot level par in the playoff. A final round of three under par helped Glenda Hoey to third overall in the grade on 163. Congratulations to Mary on her win, photos and further info will follow in due course but for now its goodbye until 10am tomorrow when the Senior Champions gets undeway.

Our Junior competition has concluded with victory for Collins' Sarah O'Neill after 54 holes with a total score of 169, 15 shots clear of Lakeside's Lily O'Brien in second on 184 with Karen Aherne from Ballinlough third on 188.

As we et ready to begin our playoff for the Intermediate Ladies here are the Top 10 who have made it through to the Last 18.

Junior Playoff is underway, final group just finishing first hole. In the Intermediate competition, Ryston's Mary Donnelly has the clubhouse lead at present on level par. That's four shots better than Glenda Hoey of RGSC on +4 while Una Brosnan of Claycastle is +1 after 27 holes. 

3.45pm  

As the sun tries to break through the rain here in Fermoy, Kilbeggan's Aoife Carton is the early pacesetter in the Intermediate competition on -1. Claycastle's Una Brosnan is the same score after nine holes with Lakeside's Mary Quinn level par. Meanwhile Ailish Sexton from the hosts and Glenda Hoey from RGSC after both on +2 after 18.

After a delay of 90 minutes, we're getting ready to resume play here in Fermoy, the rain has lighten off and the greens are starting to dry out! 

 

12.40pm

Due to torrential rain, play has been suspended here for 30 minutes in Fermoy. Of the completed 36 hole rounds in the Juniors thus far, Sarah O'Neill from Collins leads on 113, seven better than Jacinta Nugents from Tipperary Hills on 120. 

 

11.35am 

Rain has unfortunately slowed proceedings down slightly here but the leading scores of 18 holes in the Junior section are Sarah O'Neill Collins +3, Noreen Ryan Fermoy +4 and Karen Aherne Ballinlough +5. Intermediates will be getting underway shortly.

Afterwards attention turns towards the Intermediate grade with action commencing 11.30am. The top 8 in the Junior section and the top 10 Inters will qualify for the final 18 hole playoff this afternoon. We’ll keep you updated with events every so often throughout the day on the live blog.
