Mac Bride Weekly Notes 23/10/12

Good week for Mc Kenna, Smyth & Gorman

In week 3 of the annual Turkey Season the compeditors were reminded of conditions that Turkey competions are usually played in with the first sign of bad weather since the league commenced, that combined with new pin positions made scoring just that bit tougher for most.

Grade 1 saw club secretary Keith Smyth produce a 44 Nett (HC 5) to brush of the challenge of practice partner Paul Moran who carded 47 Nett (HC 4). The bellow average scoring opened the door and was inviting a roast winner to walk through and Ray Mc Kenna done just that when he carded the round of the week 43Nett ( HC 3) to claim his roast.

Although scoring in Grade 1 wasnt spectacular Grade 2 was a different story with no fewer than three players carding 38Nett to force the competition to be decided on back 9's where Pat Gorman who carded an amazing 38Nett (HC 14) to Beat Sean Rooney who carded a personal best of the same 38nett score (HC 11) on Back 9's 17shots to 17.5shots.

Next weeks competition will be 18 gross and times of play are Wednesday, Friday & Saturday at 1.30pm and Sunday & Bank Holiday Monday at 10am.

The latest draw of the club lotto took place Tuesday evening in The Railway Arms. There was no Jackpot winner and the jackpot is now €1050. The numbers were 6, 10, 18 & 19 and the weekly winners were Brendan Thornton c/o Railway Arms, Fidelma Hatch c/o Gordon Hatch & Ivor Flanagan c/o Club.
