What a week at MacBride!

MACBRIDE Pitch and Putt Club hosted their open week under glorious sunny conditions with the Open Scotch Foursomes taking place from Wednesday 5th to Friday 7th June, the John McKenna Memorial Scratch Cup taking place on Saturday 8th June and the MacBride Nett Cup bringing the week to a close on Sunday 9th June.
The Scotch Foursomes were heavily contested and the 36 Nett was won by S. Byrne and C. Black (Bellewstown) while the 36 Gross prize was take home by I. Donnelly (Cement) and O. Smith (MacBride). The men’s 18 Nett was won by P. Gorman (MacBride) and M. Bedford (Seapoint).
The Mixed 36 Nett prize was won by J. and P. Reilly (MacBride) while M. and N. Bedford (Seapoint) won the 36 Gross prize. The 18 Gross prize was won by P. Sarsfield (MacBride) and A. Fagan (Seapoint). The 18 Nett was won by A. Fagan and M. Campbell (Seapoint).
... The John McKenna Memorial Scratch Cup saw some fantastic pitch and putt being played with the final 18 progressing into an unprecedented five way playoff with Ivor Flanagan of MacBride and Jim Judge of Shandon battling it out for the win in a sudden death play off.
Both men traded shot for shot throughout the first few holes but it was Flanagan who emerged victorious to bring the cup home to MacBride for 2013. Ian Farrelly (Bellewstown) placed second while John Campbell senior (Cement) came third. The final 18 prize was won by Sean Goggins of Cement. The Intermediate prize went to Brendan Lawlor from Channonrock; the Junior prize went to Aaron McDonagh from MacBride and Nolene Bedford (Seapoint) won the ladies prize.
The Nett Cup was also hotly contested with fantastic weather prevailing throughout. The winner was S. Byrne from Bellewstown while AJ Kelly (Seapoint) was the runner up. The Senior winner was B. McQuillan (Seapoint); Intermediate grade winner was M. Vaughan from Inniskeen; the Junior winner was G. Guildea of Cement while A. O’Sullivan of Channonrock won the ladies prize.
