County Board Alliance
The final County Board Alliance 3 ball Scramble took place on Sunday 10th March 2013 in Lough Owel. 15 brave and hardy teams took part on the day. The team comprising of Dessie Baker,Gerry Keenan and Stephen Braytook the top prize in the gross section with a terrific score of 28 under par for two rounds.The Nett prize was won by another Lough Owel team, Darren Creevy, Sean Dinnegan and Dean Dinnegan with a score of 70 2/3.Well done guys on the terrific scores. Great to see the course in such fine condition so early in the year, a special word of thanks to David Corcoran for the hard work that he put in during the close season, it will be great to see the course blooming during the summer months. This bring the County Board Alliances to an end for 2013. Thanks to all our members that turn out in force to support the Alliances.
Club Competition
A club competition was played on Sunday 17th March 2013, their was a good turnout of members on the morning, this would be the last club competition before the season kicks off on the 24th March so the format was a 36 hole singles strokeplay, The winners on the day were 36 gross Dessie Baker, 36 nett Lee Stynes and 18 nett 18gross John Sweeney. Well done lads.
Jack McCormack Memorial Westmeath Classic 2013
The Jack McCormack Memorial Westmeath Classic takes place on Sunday the 24th March 2013 in Kilbeggan. Play is over 36 holes. Starting at 8.30am and last card 1.30pm. Entry €10. Prizes: Overall 36 Gross, 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Gents Inter 36 Gross. Gents Junior 36 Gross. Ladies 0-10 36 Gross & Ladies 11-18 36 Gross. All prizes sponsored by the McCormack family.
Condolences
The Club Committee would like to extend their condolences to the McCourt family on the recent death of James (Rocky) McCourt Mullingar. James sadly passed away suddenly during a recent trip abroad. He was well known to many of our members and his death caused widespread shock within the local community. Our thoughts and prayers are with James's heartbroken family, his wife Julie, children Saoirse and Cian, his mother Margaret (Peggy) and his siblings Maxine,Julie,Jenny,Ciara and Rachel. May he rest in peace.
