Johnny Cowley 2Ball Scramble 2026

Competition Secretary Report: Johnny Cowley 2Ball Scramble.

A fantastic turnout of 18 players took part in this year’s Johnny Cowley 2Ball Scramble, with teams expertly balanced combining high and low handicap players. The course was in excellent condition, and the warm, sunny evening provided the perfect backdrop for a highly competitive and enjoyable event.

Format & Results

The competition was decided on a 36 Nett winner and 36 Gross runner-up format.

· Winners (36 Nett): Patrick Montgomery & Derek McKevitt – 80 Nett

A huge congratulations to the defending champions, who successfully retained their title with a superb score.

· Runners-Up (36 Gross): Gerry Coyne & Andrew Coyne – 91 Gross

The father-son duo put in a solid performance to secure runner-up honours.

Our Hole in one Prize had 3 hole in ones. They were:

· Andrew Coyne (15)

· Derek McKevitt (6)

· Pat Maguire (11)

Pat Maguire took the win on the lowest index hole. Many thanks to all the guys working constantly on the course – your hard work is truly paying off, and it is very much appreciated by all club members. Special thanks also to Patricia McCarthy and Jess White for providing the welcome refreshments afterwards. A big welcome to new member Declan Usher, who played his first competition with us. Declan also received an impromptu “baptism” on the 17th green when he was caught in a sprinkler shower – a memorable introduction to the club!

It was wonderful to hear the banter and laughter ringing around the course during the evening’s play. That is what it’s all about – friends enjoying the game and each other’s company.
