IV World Cup Commences at Royal Meath
Irish Team Off to a Great Start, Topping the Scoreboard in the Qualifying Strokeplay
10am Thursday August 24th was
zero hour for the 2012 Pitch and Putt World Cup. All the participants were on
the tee for the shotgun start and with a hooter blast the long awaited event
commenced.
Hot favourites Ireland had a relatively slow start but as they warmed up their
scoring improved and they carded a very imptressive total score of 238 for the
five best 18 holes scores to lead the qualifiers. In second place came
Catalonia on 254, Australia came third on 255, Holland were fourth on 262,
Great Britain were fifth on 271, in sixth place were Galicia on 277 with Norway
in seventh place on 280, Switzerland in eighth place on 283 in ninth place came
Germany on 28, in tenth place came Andorra on 287 while Chile were in eleventh
place on 324.
For the quarter Finals Stage the draw
is as follows:
Ireland play Switzerland, Holland
play Great Britain, Australia play Galicia and Catalonia play Norway.
Matches are due to start at 3.30pm after a slight delay.
The following teams will take part in
the Round Robin stages Germany, Andorra and Chile.
