Pitch and Putt - Jason Cunningham and Ann Wall win Players of the Year Awards.
We ran our final big competition of the year The Christmas Hamper, which was sponsored by Kevin O'Leary Group. Despite the poor weather we had some great scoring featuring a 22 under par from James Cleary. Once again thanks to all of those who played and supported the event in such great numbers as they supported all competitions during the year. Commiserations to the losers and congratulations to all the winners listed below.
Ladies:
Overall nett runner-up - Ann Wall, Overall gross- Pauline Lucey, 12-18 gross- Lorraine Creed
12 - 18 - nett - Nora Whelan, 0-11 nett - Kathleen Shanley
Gents:
Overall nett winner- Paul Sweeney, Overall nett runner -up- Jason Cunningham
Overall gross winner- James Cleary, Senior gross- John Fitzgerald, Senior nett- Stephen O'Reilly
Inter gross- Jimmy Quinn, Inter nett- David Cahill, Junior gross- Tim Shanley, Junior nett - Seanie O'Connor
Prizes to the above were presented by Club President Seamus O' Doherty. It was a night for prize giving as prizes were also presented for The Ladies and Gents Players of the year sponsored by the Park Hotel and the Hole-in- One annual competition. The Ladies Player of the year was Ann Wall with the Gents award going to Jason Cunningham. The Hole -in- One competition ended in a three way tie shared by Paul Sweeney, David Cahill and Jason Cunningham.
All of the above fun was overshadowed by the death of one of our stalwart members Margaret Ryan who finally succumbed to the illness she had fought with great courage and dignity for a number of years. To her husband Jimmy, her family and friends we send our sympathy at this distressing time. May she rest in peace.
