Fantastic scoring on week 2 of Winter League
Winter League week 2 scores
MacBride Weekly Notes THE second
week of the MacBride Winter League took place under horrible weather conditions
last week but nevertheless there was some fantastic scores carded. Grade One
was a tight affair with Barry Thornton scoring 46 gross with an ace on the
fourth hole to beat the in-form returning Peter Vogelaar on the back nine with
23 after a blistering start from Peter who birdied six out of the first nine
holes but couldn't capitalize. "Big
Wopsie" as he's known, Peter Kelly was inspired in horrible conditions
when he shot 47 gross to beat teammates Keith Smyth and Joe Reilly by two shots
to take Grade Two. The league
now sees the top three teams separated by just three points while two other
teams are still in touch. Times of
play remain the same and members are kindly asked to make every effort to play
each week. The latest
draw of the MacBride Club Lotto took place on Tuesday 21st January
and there was no jackpot winner. The numbers drawn were 18, 19, 25 and 26. The three
lucky dip winners were Christine Dyas, Rose Barrow and the McCabe girls. The next
draw takes place on Tuesday 4th February and tickets can be
purchased from any club or committee member or from the clubhouse. The club AGM
takes place on Tuesday 4th February in the Drogheda Resource Centre
at 7.30pm.
