2015 Club Strokeplay Championship

The classic mix of Youth and Experience was reflected in the results of the Douglas Club Strokeplay held on Sunday last.

The greens were testing and although a well hit tee shot would be rewarded anyone trying to land the ball short and hope for a favourable bounce was in many cases disappointed. Indeed there was one score recorded on the long 5th holes that ran into double figures (this by a senior player), a testament to the difficulty on the day.

The overall gross was won by the enduring Liam O’Brien with an excellent score of 104, the only score under par on the day and comprised of matching rounds of 52. The nett prize was won by one of the young up and coming players Cian Morrison who carded an excellent 97 nett off a six handicap.

In other news Douglas will be represented by Mark Crean, Cian Morrison and Shane Neilland  in the Munster Intermediate Matchplay Championships to be held in Rosscarbery. Douglas wishes them all the best and hope that they have an enjoyable weekend.
