A tribute by John Manning

The Pitch and Putt community in Kildare, across Leinster and throughout Ireland is mourning the passing of Dina Dillon (R.I.P.).

A stalwart member of the St. Bridget’s club in Kilcullen, Dina was National Ladies Over-55 Junior Grade Strokeplay champion in 2016 at Fermoy.

Dina was twice runner-up in the Leinster Ladies Strokeplay championship, at junior level in Kilbeggan  in 1988 and in the intermediate grade at Tullamore in 2001.and in the 2019 junior grade

Dina reached the All IrelandLadies MatchplayNett Cup semi-finals at Tullamore in 2018, the same year that she finished second in the National Ladies Over-55 Junior Grade Strokeplay championship at McDonagh.

2016 Leinster Junior Inter-County Championship winner at St. Bridget's, for Kildare alongsideEmma Hanlon, Anne Sweeney and  Theresa O'Keeffe, Dina teamed-up  with Anne Sweeney, Gabrielle Sweeneyanddaughter-in-law Catherine Dillon to repeat that success at St. Bridget’s in 2019.

In addition to her playing achievements, Dina was an enthusiastic observer of Pitch and Putt events and an avid supporter of daughter Tara and son Ian as well as all Kildare players.

Blessed with a great sense of humour, a beatific smile and with a kind word for everyone, Dina was universally popular on the Pitch and Putt circuit.

Sincere sympathy is extended to the Dillon family and the St. Bridget’s club. Ardheis Dé g raibh a hanam dílis
