Our Scratch Cup scheduled for this Sunday the 16th of September has been postponed until Sunday the 14th of October. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Who will win the 2012 CPM Scratch Cup?

The classy Sean Goggins is the current holder and you would be a brave man to bet against the Louth man making a successful defense. He is a true competitor and there are not many better than him when he's on form.

It seems rare these days that you get a Scratch Cup winner that's a surprise and when we look back over recent winners at CPM - you couldn't disagree:

2012:?
2011: Sean Goggins (Cement)
2010: JR Crangle (Loughlinstown)
2009: JR Crangle (Loughlinstown)
2008: Darren O' Reilly (CPM)
2007: Gerard Fitzpatrick (CPM)
2006: Gerard Fitzpatrick (CPM)
2005: Darren O'Reilly (CPM)

Based on this, it's hard to look beyond current Intercounty players or a CPM player lifting the trophy on the day.

That said, there are a number of players that spring to mind that could easily take the trophy: George McGreal, Skinner, Keith Redmond, Jim Judge, Jason Larkin, Derek Courtney, Philip Byrne, Darren Kane, Stephen Keegan, etc.

I love to see surprise winners or more to the point, new winners. It keeps the top players on their toes and keeps the game fresh in general, however, I can't see it in this instance.

Whatever the outcome, the CPM club hope everyone enjoys the day and we would like to thank everyone in advance for their continued support.

First card is 9.00am with last card at 2.00pm. The playoff will commence at approx. 5.00pm.

Kind Regards,

Darren Thornberry,
Chairman
CPM.
