Course Maintenance: January and February
Green Keeping Advice for the Coming Months
Happy New Year from all at the PPUI.
We start the year with our usual batch of course maintenance advice from the Technical Committee.
January
Not much happening on the course. Clean the dew from the greens daily and keep an eye out for a fusarium patch disease. Treat the greens with ‘Chipco’ @ 200ml per 100m2 or ‘Fusonil’ @300ml per 100m2 if necessary. A good time for tree work if you have any.
February
If the ground conditions are good enough, give the place its first cut of the year, but don’t set the mowers too low in case you get frosts before spring growth starts. Spray for leatherjackets (crane fly larvae) with ‘Crossfire’ @ 15ml per 100m2.
Remember at this time of year to check your tee mats, hole cups flags and pins for the coming season.
