I met Jerry Tarde (Editor) at the 1995 Open Championship at St. Andrew’s. The meeting was arranged by Dermot Gilleece of the Irish Times (now Sunday Independent). That set the whole thing in motion.
David Owen came here in 1996 along with Jim Moriarty (photographer). I played with David at Portmarnock Pitch and Putt course (and also at Portmarnock G.C., along with two NFL referees)
I also arranged for them to visit that year’s Dublin Strokeplay championship at Old County and also set-up the meetings with Dan Dunford etc.
Peter Dobereiner had his own Pitch and Putt course……in his garden.
